Our specialists do their best in improvement elderly people lives by conducting medication management, averting the risk of overdose, side-effects and adverse interactions, and identifying repeated treatment. Moreover, the function of our experts does not end up here: we conduct medical staff training, write medication overviews, and perform specialized medication management in assisted living facilities. Nevertheless, we admit the insufficient support of legislation system of the function of a pharmacist in such institutions as senior and assisted living facilities. My Canadian pharmacy gives a high profile to the role of consultants in lives and health of older adults residing in nursing facilities.
Our pharmacists render advisory services to seniors in assisted living facilities. Our Pharmacy’s consulting pharmacists are employees who render dosing, monitoring, consulting, pharmacotherapeutic services. Not all community pharmacies provide the services for assisting living facilities. We are one of the few local pharmacies on Central Florida, that employ consultant pharmacists. Being a reputable store, we are trains its employees for performing the functions of both consulting and dispensing.
There are several programs for older adults in the U.S. The Medicaid program operates with the active support of the federal government, as well as the governments of each of the states. The main goal of this program is to support people with low income. In fact, each state in the country has its own Medicaid. On the one hand, such an organization is convenient, on the other – it gives some problems in managing the system.
My Canadian Legacy Pharmacy supports Medicaid program. For assistance with this program, a patient should collect the necessary documents confirming that his or her financial situation is below a certain state level.
If a person confirms his low income, Medicaid will be guaranteed to receive five types of medical services, including:
- laboratory diagnostics;
- X-ray examination methods;
- stay in a nursing home;
- consultations of various specialists;
- inpatient and outpatient treatment.
Numerous studies and monitoring by the government on the work of the program have shown the effectiveness of this project. First, the program allows to equalize the possibilities of Americans with different incomes, to enable even a financially unsecured person to receive qualified medical assistance. Every year, a government project helps several tens of millions of Americans solve their health problems, and this quantitative indicator only grows from year to year.
Unlike Medicaid, this project was created to work with citizens of retirement age who want to solve health problems. This program has a completely different financing line. The program fully exists on funds deducted from corporate income tax, progressive income tax and payroll tax.
Due to the existence of this system, hospitals everywhere receive a portion of their income; about half of these institutions’ budgets are Medicare revenues. Medicare has a slightly different service line, due to the fact that the program serves older Americans and solves their health problems. Thus, the program is most often used to receive some kind of preventive services, to undergo inpatient treatment, or to be able to call the doctor at home to perform some kind of therapeutic procedures. It is also possible to pass a diagnostic examination along this line of support for the population, or to spend a short period of time in the nursing facilities.
Unfortunately, the program does not provide for long-term hospitalization and is not designed for disabled pensioners who need medicines or medical equipment. But for this category of citizens, there are other programs supported by charity. Now the program is experiencing difficulties that are associated with the aging population that has globally manifested itself, when the proportion of people of retirement age increases significantly and the number of working-age population is decreasing. However, the program still exists.
All other citizens who are not covered by Medicaid and Medicare are receiving health care insurance. However, health insurance is not mandatory, you cannot have insurance and pay for treatment from your own pocket. It goes without saying that medicinal products in the U.S. are very expensive. As a result of the above, most of the population in the United States, about 80%, have medical insurance.

Our experts undergo medical staff training, write medication overviews, and perform medication management in assisted living facilities. We gives a high profile to the role of pharmacotherapeutic consultants in health and lives of seniors residing in assisted living facilities.
